My First Giveaway

This weekend was so exciting as I had a first giveaway on my Facebook page ! Well, to be precise it was a second one as on Christmas I published a coupon code for one free pattern. And thanks to this coupon I did share my work with almost 2000 people.

My recent giveaway was connected with the release of a new pattern – the Wheel of Magic Mandala Bag. This is actually the fist bag I’ve designed in my life and I am very proud of it myself. It took me more than a month of active designing to create a mandala. I don’t even know how many times I remade it and started from the beginning again. And I had many sleepless nights as I wanted my bag to be a perfect circle but I did not know how to make its bottom and side parts. And then making pictures and writing down the pattern. I thank very much to brilliant testers who helped me polish it. And finally it is released! Wow! I am soooo happy! :)

This bag is crocheted in both Overlay and Tapestry techniques. It consists of two circles with crocheted lining. I made a crocheted clasp with wooden button on the back side of the bag as I did not want the front mandala to be overlaid by it. I also used a leather strap, but it is also possible to make crocheted strap for this bag.

It is of a very practical size: 20 cm (8 inches) large across and 1,5 cm (1/2 inches deep). And it has enough space for all the small things we, women, usually have in our purses: mobile phone, lipstick, wallet and even a small book. I used DK mix wool yarn and 2.75 mm crochet hook. But mandala can be much bigger if other yarn is chosen.

I really like the combination of turquoise and ruby colours, but I cannot explain why. I also chose cream and natural brown for this design.

The rules of giveaway were very simple. I only asked to come to my Facebook page and leave a comment under the post of this bag. Five lucky winners were selected automatically and they got this pattern for free.

…Actually this design can be used in many ways. It can serve as a potholder if you crochet only mandala and join it with the lining. Mandala can also become a nice decoration for a pillow cover, or it can be just hung on the wall as hanging ornament. I really love this design.

The pattern is available in my Etsy and Ravelry shops! You can also start following me on Facebook to be the first who gets all the crochet news from LillaBjörnCrochet.
