My Mandala with Flower Rug

This is my second Mandala rug with flower. The first one found a new home in Malaysia few months ago. This rug is almost the same as the previous one but with a tiny change of the colour.
Surprisingly I like this colour combination a lot: orange, dark brown, special kind of brown (coffee with milk I would say) and two shades of turquoise. I released a pattern for the central part of this rug few months ago, but unfortunately I haven’t managed to write a pattern for the edge yet. I have some chaotic notes, but probably I am the only one who will be able to understand them.
But I am strong in my wish to write it down. At least for the separate elements. I am working on a new mandala at the moment. I like the whole idea but not the result at the moment. I made three variations already but I don’t like any of them. Seems like I will use all my leftovers before I am satisfied with the final look of new mandala. Just need to keep my fingers crossed it will be very soon.
The pattern of my Mandala with Flower is available in both my Etsy and Ravelry shops!

  1. This is just gorgeous! What kind of yarn do you recommend for making a rug? I've considered having a go at making a bedside rug, but worry about it being hard-wearing enough. It would only have light traffic over it, but I'd like it to last.

  2. I used DK yarn, mix-wool for this rug. It is made in overlay crochet technique so it is quite thick. And it will be even more thick if you choose thicker yarn and bigger size of hook. I really like natural fibres, though personally I would not make a rug of pure cotton. For me mix-wool is the best choice. Such a rug can be washed by hand in cold water with mild shampoo (and dry flat), so I think it will definitely last. :)

  3. i am interested in flower mandala rug pattern and Sunny mandala rug pattern. I like the colors you used on your blog. I would like to make a table cover about 40 inches round and also how to square for square table. In centimeters i think it would be 101 cm. I am new to your blog. My name is Mary Alice . Hope to hear from you. You crochet wonderfully. Thank you

    1. Hi Mary Alice!

I am afraid both Sunny mandala and Mandala with flower will be too small for you. Even with an outer edge (the pattern is not available yet) they will be 60-70 cm in diametr.

  4. Simply Gorgeous! I’ve been a huge admirer since your first blog post and have watched this one for too long lol. Have you written the edging for this beauty? I’ve purchased this pattern but alas, it’s been several years since you launched it...will you consider? I’ll be sure to post on my blog your amazing world of fiber perfection! Any idea how to link it back to you? Highest Regards Tatsi

    1. Hi Tatsi... Yes, it is still on my to-do list. But the problem is I have too many ideas and so little time. I hope (hope!) to finish the pattern :) To link back to my blog you can probably just insert the link on your blog linking to any post you like.
