Spirits of Life CAL: Part 6. Overlay square with flower

Welcome to Part 6 of Spirits of Life CAL. This blog post will be the shortest as you know everything already and I don’t have much to add. This week we will be making squares in overlay crochet again. But the pattern for central medallion is different. This time it is a tiny flower.

If you missed previous parts of Spirits of Life CAL, please check General Information, Important Notes, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5.

You will notice that instructions for this week are much shorter. That’s because I didn’t include Important notes again. But if you have some doubts or want to refresh your memories about overlay crochet, please, refer to notes from Part 3.

Dimensions of squares are also the same as in Part 3. If you modified your squares in any way to fit the size (for example replaced some stitches on Rounds 7-8 or on the Edge of the square), please, do it again this week.

  1. Hi Tatsiana, this time I want to take a moment to thank you for the lots and lots and lots of work you had making this pattern. The pictures beautifull! The video’s, I don’t even want to know how much work that is.
I’m a few weeks behind (been ill), but can easily go on because of the clear way you’ve written the pattern. When I don’t understand, I look at the video. And also the many translations, even dutch I’m making this shawl with a lot of joy and every evening I can’t wait to start. Thank you for giving us so much fun! Hope you understand my English. Greetings from Holland Inez Stornebrink

    1. Hi Inez, thank you so very much for taking your time and wrinting this comment for me. I am very happy you are enjoying the pattern. And I am also happy all my efforts to make this pattern as clear as possible were worth it! and yes, of course it's in Dutch!!! Spirits of Life CAL was sponsored by Scheepjes (Dutch yarn company), so this CAL was not possible without patterns in Dutch. But this is not my work here. A very dedicated team of translators from all over the world is helping me. And I am very-very grateful for that.

    1. Hi Rea! Thank you for your nice words. the CAL is finished already (but patterns will stay online and free forever) and many people found it doable. I know for many people it was a challenge, but I have received lots of messages and comments saying it helped to learn something new :)
