Crocheted Bracelet in an hour? That's Easy!

This tutorial on how to make Spring Flower crocheted bracelet is a great way to practice popcorn stitches!
Crocheted Bracelet with Mandala
I’ve become a little bit obsessed with designing mandala bracelets recently. I’ve written three patterns already: all with different mandalas and bands. And suddenly I got an idea of writing a post which could describe how to crochet the band. But there was a mandala (central medallion) needed to finish the bracelet. And I designed a very simple one with my beloved popcorn stitches. Enjoy! And I hope you will share the pictures of your finished cuffs with me!

What you will need:

You will need yarn in three colors. I used leftovers of pure cotton yarn Catania in light beige, cream and light purple (Yarn weight: Sport; Texture: 5 ply (12 wpi). You will also need a crochet hook which will give you acceptable gauge. I used 2.75 mm (C). And one button of the appropriate size.

The size of your finished bracelet will depend on the yarn and hook used. Mine turned out to be 18 cm (7.2”) long and 6 cm (2.4”) wide in the widest (mandala) place.

My gauge for the band is 28 sc and 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”).

American Abbreviations used:

rnd – round
st – stitch
ch – chain
yo – yarn over
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
pcpopcorn stitch
lp – loop(s)
FL, BL – front, back loop(s)
NJneedle join
*…* - repeat between ** as many times as indicated.

Rnd 4. Change to yarn C3. Attach yarn in any dc (BL) of rnd 3.

Note: Attach new yarn by simply pulling a lp in the indicated st of rnd 3 and make ch1 which will count (replace) as 1st sc of this round. Join this round with a needle join, which will give the 1st ch1 in the beginning of the round its FL and BL. And the first ch1 will become a “normal” sc.

*1 sc in dc (the 1st sc of the rnd will be a ch), 2 sc in next ch2-space, 1 sc in next pc, 2 sc in next ch2-space* 8 times, NJ in the 1st sc of this rnd after ch1. (= 48 sc)

crocheted flower mandala - tutorial

Congratulations! Your central medallion for the bracelet is finished! My medallion is not completely flat, but I like its shape.

Now you can continue with the band.

I used yarn C1 to crochet the band, but you can use any color that will suit best as a background for your mandala. The band is crocheted in rows, back and forth.

Start working on the wrong side of mandala. Attach yarn directly above any dc of rnd 3. Work the first row in FL.

And for the rest of the strap – in BL only! You will get a nice rib.

And here are instructions for the band.

Row 1. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 12 sc. Turn piece. (= 12 sc)
Row 2-12. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 13 sc. Turn piece. (= 13 sc)
Note: the last sc of second rnd is made in the same st of medallion where the yarn for the band was attached.
Please, feel free to crochet more rows if the strap seems short to you.
Row 13. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 1 sc, 1 dec, 7 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc. Turn piece. (= 11 sc)
Row 14. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 1 sc, 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc. Turn piece. (= 9 sc)
Row 15. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 1 sc, 1 dec, 3 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc. Turn piece. (= 7 sc)
Row 16. ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), 1 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc. (= 5 sc) Cut yarn, fasten off.

Make another strap in the same way – on the opposite side of your mandala.

When both parts of your strap are ready, crochet around the whole bracelet with crab stitches on the right side. Make crab stitches in BL on the open part of mandala. I used yarn C2. And here you can find great instructions on how to make "crab stitch" (or reverse single crochet stitch).

At the same time make a loop for your button on one edge of the strap. When you reach central sc on the edge, chain 8 and make a crab st into the same stitch of the edge, forming a loop. Continue with crab sts until the end, finish with a slst in the first st of this rnd, cut the yarn and fasten off. Sew a button on the other edge of the strap.

Note: I made ch 8 for my loop but you may want to make it bigger, or smaller.

    1. Oh, really! Please, feel free to contact me if you have any problems with my patterns. Overlay crochet may seem tricky at the beginning, but once you understand the idea everything will go easy and smooth. :) You can also check section Overlay crochet here, on my blog. I tried to explain all the basics of this technique there!

  5. Thank you for the lovely pattern! I have a larger arm and used worsted weight "I Love This Cotton" and a size 7 hook. It's perfect except for one little thing. When I had finished my mandala portion, I examined it and only had 7 petals. Lol. It's beautiful and fits my arm beautifully. I'll leave a picture on facebook in a few minutes. Thanks again
