Following the series of satisfying crochet, I would like to introduce a new delicate pattern. Please, welcome a Morning Mist Wrap! The pattern is easy to follow, and instructions for both the wrap’s body and the border are quick to memorize. You can adjust the width and length as you need. And create a blanket instead, for example.

p.s. When the picture of the Morning Mist Wrap was revealed on social media,
one of the followers on Facebook mentioned that it looked familiar to the
Shadowplay Shawl
created by Sascha Blase. Great minds think alike! Looking like sisters,
the wraps have major texture and constructive differences. If you prefer a
border as-you-go, please definitely check the Sascha's pattern!

Last week was very relaxed I hope. And today’s border is very simple, too. It consists of only rounds with single and double crochet stitches (US terms) and almost no counting is involved. So after you finish first round you can grab a cup of tea and continue with the pattern watching your favourite TV shows.
Why do I mention first round? Because on that round you will work evenly around entire wrap (it should be blocked already). I know many people I scared by “work evenly” instructions. To make it easier for you, I have given exact stitch count for every part of the wrap. So first round is broken into smaller sections, and hopefully it will be easy to be on track.
Please, note that my stitch count is perfect for the size and gauge given in the pattern. If your gauge was different, you might need to improvise a bit. The main rule is that your border must not ruffle. And it should not be pulling, too.
In case you don’t have enough yarn to finish the border as per pattern – don’t worry. You can absolutely join a new color in the middle of the round and continue to work with it. I would say different colors of yarn in the same round will make your wrap look very authentic.

If you purchased an official Scheepjes kit you might be curious what is the metal ring for. And now I can tell you! It’s for a bonus pattern – a mandala wall hanging – which will be made with leftovers. The mandala design is created already and will be put to test this week. But since many of you are behind with the CAL and Christmas is almost here, I thought I would release bonus pattern early in January. When everyone will be back from holidays, fresh and ready for the new challenges!
Are you making this wrap for yourself or as a gift? :) I would love to hear from you in comments!!

This week’s instructions are short. You know so much already and I am not sure what else I can add.
The only important thing I would like to draw your attention to is yardages! I know that many of you were very careful and precise, and you checked yardages after each new part of the CAL was finished. But some of you preferred to live dangerously. :)
If you are not very much on track with yardages and you feel like you are running out of some colors, don’t worry! We can fix it this week and hopefully you will not need to order additional skeins of yarn.
Part 8 is more or less the same as very first week of the CAL. We will be making colorful stripes again with a tiny touch of overlay crochet. I used a certain order of colors for my wraps, but it’s not really necessary to follow it exactly. If you run out of some shades, please, feel free to replace the colors according to your taste. It will not have a great impact on the final look of your wrap.

Part 7 begins with a divider which is added on top of the squares - same as in Part 4. And then Mosaic panel is made with 2 colors only. So not many tails to weave in. I hope it’s a good news for you.

Part 4 consists of three dividers and two C2C panels which are worked on the top of completed body of your wrap, diagonally with join-as-you-go method. C2C Panel 1 is made with three shades and C2C Panel 2 is a bit easier, as you will only use two shades for it.
Please, note that this pattern doesn’t give basics of C2C crochet technique. If you want to practice before you actually jump to the CAL, please, try these two tutorials (HERE and HERE) by It’s All in A Nutshell and One Dog Woof. And to get a deeper insight into join-as-you-go method, you can try my Pastel Triangles pillow pattern HERE.

As you may know already, C2C crochet is mainly worked from charts. I understand that it might be tricky for beginners, so I wrote detailed text instructions, row by row. While following them you can also refer to charts, and to the video’s. I believe with all kinds of written and visual directions Part 4 should not be difficult for you.
Corner-to-Corner crochet projects can be made in one-two shades only. And with multiple colors. For me the hardest thing in this technique is to understand how exactly colors should be changed. To make Part 4 as easy as possible, I wrote the pattern in such a way that all color changes are made similarly.
Colors are always changed when completing slip stitch when two cells of different colors “meet” (pic 1) or when you need to change yarn on the edge. Holding both yarns behind work, insert the hook into space of next cell and complete slip stitch with new yarn (pic 2). Tighten previous yarn (pic 3). Now continue to work new cell with new yarn. Isn’t it easy?!
A very important thing you should always keep in mind while following the pattern is that C2C Panels are joined to the wrap’s “body” with join-as-you-go method.
To join as-you-go you will attach C2C panel to main body of the wrap with slip stitches in the beginning or end of EVERY row. While attaching panel to the body of the wrap, you will skip one OR two stitches on the last row of the body. The rows of the panel on which you will skip only ONE stitch are marked with red dots in the chart. When joining the rest of the Rows you will skip TWO sts on the body of the wrap.
That sounds veeery tricky. I know! But don’t worry. Just follow the pattern row by row and you will understand the idea. You may ask why should you skip one or two stitches on the body? Why not to always skip one or always two stitches? The answer is very simple: C2C panel should match the body perfectly in size. I tried different ways of designing this part. But it was getting either too wide, or too narrow. And the final version you will see – works the best (trust me)!

This week is about overlay crochet squares. You will complete 4 of them – each with a new placement of colors. So all your squares will be different, and you will definitely not be bored.
The square consists of central medallion (made with Catona) and then 4 corners (with Spirit yarn) are added. And to frame everything you will add a final edge with Catona again.

The pattern says every square should be 14cm large – after blocking. Of course this is valid only in case you have correct gauge and your previous parts were the same size as given in the pattern. If your gauge is a bit off – don’t worry. We will find the way how to fix this.
Please, measure the width of your blocked piece and divide it by 4. This is what your square size (blocked) should be. For example, if width of your wrap is 60cm, your square should be 60:4=15cm. And if your width is, say, 52cm – the square should be 52:4=13cm.
You can achieve correct size either by blocking (stretching your square to bigger dimensions), or making small tweaks with the pattern. You can try and play with hdc/dc/tr (US terms) stitches on rounds 7 and 8, and on the final round of the edge. If you feel your square is not getting desired size, try to replace stitches on these rounds with either shorter or longer ones. I hope this small trick will help you!
As on previous parts, please, weigh your yarns carefully and check yardages for each color in a table for Part 1.
And here are my squares joined for each color way. Please, feel free to join them in another order if you wish!

Are you prepared for a mosaic adventure? Today’s pattern uses Mosaic crochet. If you studied Important Notes for the CAL HERE and practiced a bit, you probably know already what is waiting for you. If not – don’t worry. I prepared detailed written instructions with pictures. And video, of course!
**IMPORTANT** What I would ask you to do is weigh all your colors again before and after Part 2 is finished. And carefully compare and put notes about used amounts into the table, which you can find in Part 1. Mosaic fabric should stay the same width as previous part. No flairs should appear on the edges. If you have them, it means your chains are not tight (and it also means you will use more yarn).
To solve this problem you have two options:
- To make all chains tighter, or
- Reduce all amounts of chains by one. So if pattern calls for ch2, make ch1 instead, and so on.
The fabric should not be too stiff and the edges should stay straight. These are basic rules for Part 2. Good news is that there are no tails to weave in. You will work with two colors only changing yarn after every other row. Without cutting it.

And here is an order of colors for all three colorways:
I’ve created a video tutorial to help you understand the placement of stitches on every row. As already mentioned, my video’s don’t have voice explanations (they are silent). I’ve got many questions about this on YouTube. And I have really many reasons to keep them as they are. I did my best to carefully show every stitch, and hopefully my video tutorial will be helpful.
For the needs of the video I have made a sample with just two repeats. You will be making more repeats for your own wrap (as per pattern). I marked first or last stitch in every repeat to show you how it looks. And then I am showing the end of every row. So in fact video does illustrate the entire pattern.
And I've added something extra this week. If you open video in YouTube and click "SHOW MORE" in description, you will see a break-down timing for every row. So now to find an exact row you don't need to watch/scroll the whole video :)
You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to have notifications about future videos delivered directly to your e-mail.
Please, take your time to block entire piece after Part 2 is finished. During next several weeks your wrap will be growing in different directions. And it will be very handy to keep dimensions under control.
EDIT: if your gauge is obviously different (smaller or bigger), please don't stretch your fabric too much to given measurements. Just block it "wisely" to get straight edges. And be careful with next parts so they fit together well. And don't worry :) But be aware that if your wrap is coming out bigger you will naturally need more yarn to finish it...
